PASQuanS 1st Year Meeting

From 26-27 September 2019, the PASQuanS 1st Year Meeting took place in Vienna. The PASQuanS Consortium and the associated End Users were a guest of the Erwin Schrodinger International Institute for Mathematics and Physics (ESI). The Partners presented their first scientific results from the project. Also the young researchers were involved in the Meeting again. They presented their scientific work at the poster session. The associated End Users from large industrial companies had an active role in the discussions of the first End User Forum which brought together scientific developments and the interests of industry.

The presentations of the team members were intensely discussed and the diversity of the consortium, with its academic as well as industry partners, led to a stimulating atmosphere to discuss the progress and projects within PASQUANS. However, not only the presentations were used for discussions, but even more the coffee breaks. The members of the different groups used these to discuss the latest ideas and developments in self-organized small groups. Examples of the discussions and presentations include ways to target optimization problems with state of the art quantum simulators in our labs or how to improve and assess the performance of these machines. The latter was a hot topic for the experimental groups within PASQUANS during the first year of the project, and it remains a top priority for them in the future.
